Carrying the lineage of the Hayate and Hayate 72 Type-E, the HL 721HRB-18 is a rod created through the fusion of DAIWA’s most advanced technology and the craftsmanship of Haruhiko Murakami.
Based on one of the most beloved and timeless masterpieces in Heartland history — the original Hayate — this model shifts the taper design from a tubular Power Slim to a fast taper, while adopting HVF Nanoplus as its main material for the first time in the Heartland lineup.
Designed for open areas with minimal grass or cover, the rod retains a sensitive tip for precise lure control while being fully armed with X45 (to suppress twisting) and 3DX (for rapid recovery after flex). This combination minimizes power loss caused by twisting during casting and hooking, while the 3DX structure enhances long-distance casting performance.
The taper, co-designed by Haruhiko Murakami and the Heartland team, embodies Murakami’s signature smooth bending curve that flows seamlessly from tip to butt. Every detail is meticulously refined to allow lures to move accurately, precisely, and exactly as intended — a true expression of Murakami’s fishing philosophy.
